RC3 PROTECTION AGAINST FORCED ENTRY WITH IN FRONT OF WALL INSTALLATION SYSTEM ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3”
RC3-secure protection against forced entry
Burglary rates have shot up sharply in recent years, so the police recommend that enhanced protective measures be installed on buildings. The installation of intrusion-resistant windows, doors and adjacent components is already playing a massive role in providing protection against forced entry. RC3-tested products such as the EPS-F based IN FRONT OF WALL INSTALLATION SYSTEM ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” are well able to withstand suspected criminal activity.
The forced entry attempts for the RC3 test (which is based on the DIN EN 1627:2011 certification program) are even harder than for the RC2 certification. During the test procedure, the in front of wall installation system installed in combination with an RC3-tested window must withstand an attack with a 70 cm crowbar. During the attempted break-in, which lasts 5 minutes, the installed RC3 window must not allow any opening to be created that would allow passage and must not be removable.
In the RC3 test, ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” was able to withstand the mechanical opening attempt both between the window frame and casement and between the window frame and supporting frame system. An attack on the connection between the in front of wall installation system and the body of the wall was equally unsuccessful.
The in front of wall installation system was also required to pass the static pressure test on the window fixing points, which involved seven pendulum impact tests using a 50 kg twin-tyre impactor.
RC3 certificate is official proof of intrusion resistance
The tests carried out and certificates issued by the HFA are valid Europe-wide since the European test standard has been now implemented and sets out the prescribed and optional points.
Certificates issued by Holzforschung Austria are listed by the German police in its directories of manufacturers of “Tested and certificate intrusion-resistant products”. The RC3 certificate can also be presented to the insurance company as proof of intrusion resistance in the event of a break-in.
Security aspects with appropriate measures to protect against forced entry are playing an increasingly important role in the planning and renovation of buildings. With ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 1” and „TYPE 3”, ISO-Chemie has two RC3-tested systems for the in front of wall installation of windows in its portfolio that can provide excellent protection against forced entry.
In front of wall installation system with high load-bearing capacity and thermal insulation
The EPS-F based in front of wall installation system ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” consists of thermally-insulating system profiles made from high-density THERMAPOR. The very high material density (150 kg/m³) and excellent properties in terms of supported load and thermal insulation make the system perfect for installing windows in front of the wall in both single and multiple occupancy buildings and in commercial construction. It can also be used for fire protection applications up to building class 5. In large window elements with high loading requirements, the system profiles can be reinforced with aluminium and stainless steel angles to provide additional stabilisation.
Passivhaus-certified, low emission & energy-efficient
The IN FRONT OF WALL INSTALLATION SYSTEM ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” was recognised as a “Certified Passive House Component” by the Passivhaus Institute. This means that it is officially approved for the installation of windows and glazed doors in front of the wall in passive energy houses.
Users and clients can also be sure that this product does not give off hazardous substances into the ambient air and does not represent any risk to health. ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” was rated as “very low-emission” with the GEV mark EMICODE® EC1PLUS. It also complies with the requirements of the German Building Energy Act and the principles of the RAL "Installation guide".
Tested as a fall arrester
ISO-TOP WINFRAMER „TYPE 3” was also tested against the requirements of the ETB directive “Components that protect against falling”, and fulfils the technical rules for use when fitting components with fall-arresting safety glass. The on-site requirements concerning the fixing of components can vary considerably, so the ETB directive offers four different fixing options.
Expert advice from the manufacturer
With its ISO CONSTRUCTION ADVISER service, ISO-Chemie offers professional support to designers, architects and installers for planning and executing their construction projects.
As a supplement to the technical hotline, the ISO CONSTRUCTION ADVISERS offer their customers on-site assessments to clarify connection details. In addition to recommending suitable products, they can also help by communicating directly with responsible persons such as architects and clients.
The ISO CONSTRUCTION ADVISERS also offer support for the detailed planning, such as CAD drawings of the structural joint details, information concerning test certificates and texts for issuing invitations to tender. The advisory service includes professional on-site instruction for installers. Users on the ISO-PORTAL can also download video clips with installation tips and instructions.
Calculation of the four load cases & structural analysis
The ISO CONSTRUCTION ADVISER team can also help with calculating and drawing up stress analysis reports for fixing components in and in front of the supporting facade. The ISO-TOP WINFRAMER CALCULATION TOOL is available on the ISO-PORTAL for this purpose. The tool will calculate the four load cases (Self-weight dead load, Wind load, Open casement and Open casement with additional load) for in front of wall installation and create a project-specific structural analysis.
ift INSTALLATION PASS
With the ift INSTALLATION TOOL on the ISO-PORTAL, you can generate an ift INSTALLATION PASS certified by ift Rosenheim in just a few clicks to create a professional site documentation pack. The ift INSTALLATION PASS can be used both as an aid to planning project-specific installation and as proof that the connections have been correctly designed from both the technical and the structural viewpoints.
